EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Board of Directors of ICCBBA are seeking to appoint an Executive Director to take on the position on the retirement of the current post-holder.  The position is being advertised internationally and re-location to the USA is not required.

Applicants must hold a minimum of a Masters degree, be fluent in English, and have a minimum of five years leadership experience, preferably in the non-profit healthcare field.
 

Knowledge of general trends in biotherapeutics and informatics, together with familiarity with ISBT 128 is desirable.
Experience of working internationally across a wide range of cultures would be an advantage.


Personality assessment may be required for qualifications.

Post: Executive Director

 

Reports to: ICCBBA Board of Directors Chair

 

Job Summary:  Lead and manage ICCBBA to achieve its vision and mission in accordance with the ICCBBA Board of Directors strategy and policies. https://www.iccbba.org/about-iccbba/iccbba-overview/vision-mission-priorities

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and manage ICCBBA in close collaboration with the executive management team;
     

  • Foster an ICCBBA reputation for integrity, quality and service;
     

  • Oversee ICCBBA’s role in the coordination and implementation of ISBT 128 worldwide;
     

  • Develop and maintain relationships with major stakeholders, such as worldwide scientific, professional and patient organizations; Ministries of Health, regulators and WHO; and other standards development organizations.
     

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors in order to develop strategy, goals and plans for the furtherance of ICCBBA's mission;
     

  • Develop a budget in collaboration with the Treasurer that can be approved by the Board of Directors;
     

  • Direct ICCBBA in order to achieve the agreed strategy, goals and plans of the Board of Directors;
     

  • Provide regular feedback to the Board of Directors on activities and financial performance;
     

  • Ensure that all ICCBBA provided resources, human and financial, are efficiently and cost-effectively managed, and available for the successful implementation of ISBT 128 and for ongoing support to registered facilities;
     

  • Ensure that ICCBBA operations comply with applicable regulatory and professional standards, are effectively managed, and are in accordance with good corporate governance;
     

  • Ensure that ICCBBA products and services meet the current and future needs of its users;
     

  • Ensure that the ICCBBA Quality System maintains ISO 9001 accreditation.

TECHNICAL WRITER

ICCBBA is seeking to fill the position of Technical Writer. The position will be located at the ICCBBA office in Redlands, California.

ICCBBA is seeking a full-time Technical Writer to maintain technical documents and publications in support of the ISBT 128 Standard. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex and technical information in simple terms. Applicants must hold a minimum of a BS degree (or equivalent), experience in technical or academic writing, and excellent written language.

Job Description
 

Reports to: Standards Documentation Manager
 

Job Type: Full-time
 

Job Summary: The primary function of the technical writer is to write technical documents and publications in support of the ISBT 128 Standard in accordance with ICCBBA style policies, to provide technical support to ICCBBA, and to provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
 

Technical Support for the ISBT 128 Standard:
 

  • To maintain technical documents and publications ensuring they are up to date with the latest developments of the ISBT 128 Standard.

  • To develop new standards and guidance documents as the need arises.

  • To ensure the appropriate document and publication review steps are performed in accordance with ICCBBA policies and procedures.

  • To communicate complex and technical information in simple terms.

  • To be thorough, detailed, and accurate with information on the text and visual content.

  • To address comments received during the document and publication review process.

  • To develop new label designs as needed.

  • To work with senior staff and TAG members to write abstracts and professional papers.

  • To develop PowerPoint presentations.

  • To proofread documents written by others.

  • To write clear and concise policies and procedures relevant to technical activities.

  • To provide support to, and when appropriate, attend the meetings of Technical Advisory Groups.

  • To perform other tasks as required.
     

Technical Support to ICCBBA:
 

  • To work in a Quality Systems environment in accordance with ICCBBA policies and procedures.

  • To participate in the formulation and review of policy for ICCBBA and to suggest changes.

  • To participate as a team member in reviewing and critiquing the work of other staff.

  • To undertake projects of a technical nature as assigned.
     

Customer Service:
 

  • To produce technical documents that facilitate the implementation of ISBT 128 worldwide.

  • To work with other team members to promote and support the implementation of ISBT 128.
     

Professional Development:
 

  • To maintain an awareness of developments in the fields of transfusion and transplantation, and to apply this knowledge to the ongoing maintenance of the ISBT 128 Standard.

  • To maintain awareness of developments in IT and coding systems and to apply this knowledge to the ongoing maintenance of the ISBT 128 Standard.
     

Working Relationships:
 

  • To report to the Standards Documentation Manager.

  • To work in close collaboration with other management and staff.

  • To formulate recommendations for the expansion and growth of the ISBT 128 Standard to meet the changing demands of transfusion and transplantation.
     

Technical Support to ICCBBA:
 

  • To participate in the formulation and review of policy for ICCBBA and to suggest changes.

  • To participate in, and represent ICCBBA at, professional meetings and congresses.

  • To participate in the promotion of ISBT 128 through coordination of, and attendance at, the ICCBBA booth at trade shows.

  • Assist in providing internal support for software applications, website maintenance, and technical facilities.

  • To work in a Quality Systems environment in accordance with ICCBBA policies and procedures.

  • To undertake projects of a technical nature as assigned.

Customer Service:
 

  • To provide technical help desk support to customers in an efficient and timely manner.

  • To support implementation of ISBT128 worldwide.

  • To promote the use of ISBT128 in the transfusion and transplantation communities by participation in meetings and presentation of talks on behalf of ICCBBA.
